PATRIZIA, a global leader in real asset investment management headquartered in Germany, is committed to enhancing their environmental impact while offering a unique value proposition to tenants.
To achieve these goals, PATRIZIA partnered with Alvéole to introduce bee hives and educational programming across its properties, ultimately aiming to foster tenant engagement and environmental stewardship.
Overview
- High level of tenant participation in workshops
- Increased environmental awareness
- Strengthened commitment to sustainability
The mission
PATRIZIA’s primary objective was to introduce tenants to the importance of bees, aligning this initiative with their broader sustainability strategy. The company also aimed to make sustainability a central focus of their community engagement efforts, ultimately increasing tenant satisfaction.
The solution
Alvéole partnered with PATRIZIA to implement urban beekeeping programs across more than 10 properties. Alvéole provided comprehensive support, from hive installation and maintenance to tenant engagement activities such as workshops and honey harvesting sessions.
The partnership leveraged Alvéole’s expertise in making beekeeping accessible and educational, with a strong emphasis on community involvement. By involving tenants directly in the beekeeping process, including hands-on workshops and interactive honey harvesting events, Alvéole helped PATRIZIA transform initial skepticism into enthusiastic participation.
The results
The initiative has been highly successful, leading to significant tenant engagement and increased environmental awareness. Tenants who were initially skeptical of the bee program have become active participants, showing a greater understanding and appreciation of bees’ role in the ecosystem. The program has also contributed to PATRIZIA’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals, particularly in promoting biodiversity and sustainable practices.
The variety in honey produced across different properties—from light yellow to dark brown—highlighted the diversity of the local flora and the bees’ foraging range, which fascinated tenants.
The program not only strengthened PATRIZIA’s sustainability credentials but also created a unique community experience for tenants.
“Initially, the tenants were skeptical and rather dismissive. Alvéole helped to overcome this skepticism by involving the tenants in the honey production process. Now all tenants are actively involved in the workshops, and the honey is even harvested together. Our discussions have shown that many tenants are now much more empathetic towards bees.”
