At Alvéole, we help businesses, schools, and various organizations meet their engagement and sustainability goals by bringing bees to their building. Our goal is to make people fall in love with bees, build ecological awareness, and in time, more sustainable cities and food systems.

  • Our story

    From a group of childhood friends’ innovative take on conventional beekeeping, to backyard urban beekeeping, to a global urban beekeeping adventure to reconnect city folks to nature, the Alvéole colony has been fostering innovation since 2013. Our now global social company has completely flipped the conventional beekeeping model, from one person taking care of 1,000 honey bee hives, to 1,000 people coming together around a single one.

    Today, we’ve swarmed to major cities across North America, and we flew all the way across the Atlantic to Paris. By installing honey bee hives in cities across the world and fostering environmental awareness, we hope that companies and people will take action to protect bees and all pollinators, and begin to rethink their responsibility towards the environment.

    This is why we’ve joined the B Corp and 1% for the Planet certifications.

  • 1% for the Planet

    In January 2021, we joined a global movement of organizations giving back 1% of their annual sales to non-profits fighting to protect the environment, creating high-impact partnerships.

    We’ve chosen to partner up with environmental non-profits located in each city where our bees are buzzing, to support greening initiatives and planting more wildflowers for all pollinators. In other words, every single one of our urban beekeeping services will financially contribute to the planting of more wildflowers for all pollinators in cities.

  • B Corp

    In 2018, we officially received our B Corp certification, a testament to our efforts in generating positive economic, social, and ecological impacts. Being B Corp certified means balancing purpose and profit. We’re legally required to consider the impact of our decisions on our workers, customers, suppliers, communities, and the environment.

    Plus, in order to remain a B Corp, we need to get recertified every three years, improving on our preceding score. This process keeps us on our toes, ensuring that we continue to engage in a high level of impact.
